Services I offer

CREATIVITY GROUPS FOR WOMEN

I particularly enjoy facilitating women’s creativity groups. I believe every one of us has the potential to be creative, but for many this has proved harder to navigate.

These groups can either be in-person or online, can be one-off sessions or ongoing.

Please see ( Facebook group) ……. for more information or updates about these.

BEREAVEMENT COUNSELLING

I have been offering individual bereavement counselling to children (and families) for over 25 years, and more especially to bereaved mothers over the past 10 years. These have been both working individually and in groups. It is often really beneficial to be a member of a bereavement group, but one needs to be ready to do so. I always suggest some individual sessions first. Careful thought and planning needs to go into forming any new group, so that is a safe and supportive space for all members. Groups are never larger than 6 members.

Individual sessions can last for anything from a single session to 6 sessions, although I always suggest 4 sessions as a minimum; it takes time to feel safe and trust a new therapist and process. Complicated grief may take considerably longer; I never rush clients, and interventions are always ‘tailor-made’ and client centred.

PALLIATIVE CARE

I have been working in the field of various palliative care settings for over 20 years, but especially over the last 10. Palliative care does not always mean end-of-life care. It is about helping someone live as well and fully as possible, either until they are discharged from the service, or until they die. It is not only about supporting the individual, but being able to offer support to family members too.

Anticipatory Grief & Bereavement Support

For years now I have been offering a service specialising in this work. I support both individuals and groups during the anticipatory grief phase, when the death of a loved one is expected. It is such a painful time, and my role is to support you as you navigate this lonely journey with care and respect. I may help you start difficult conversations, or to begin some legacy or memory work with the person who is dying if possible. I will continue this support at end of life if that is what is needed or requested, and of course offer individual, sensitive and appropriate support during the bereavement period.

This work is adapted to individual needs and ages, also taking cultural and spiritual preferences into account. Family groups can be supported too.

I have offered many bereavement support groups to mothers, both anticipatory grief groups and bereavement groups. Nobody better understands the fear and pain felt when losing a child, like another mother.

End of Life Care

If it is appropriate and requested, I am available to accompany and support clients or families at this time. This should be discussed at an earlier time.
